Stress vs Anxiety

Q: Is there a difference?
A: Yes. There is a difference.
Stress occurs when we feel pressure in our day-to-day lives at work and at home. It is normal to feel stress in these circumstances. Stress is managed by your reaction to it and how you handle it in conjunction to how you feel, what you want out of the situation and by your attitude. If you take on too much responsibility and become unable to cope with it then stress can become a problem. Stress can cause issues with your blood pressure. Stress can make you feel irritable. The best way to combat it is to break down what is making you stressed (a task at work for example) and work on a little bit of it before moving onto the next part. Finding more time or taking time out to do enjoyable activities relieves stress and makes you feel better so you are able to then tackle your task.
Anxiety is a normal reaction. It is an internal reaction caused by fear over something bad happening or for there to be the potential of something going wrong. Anxiety can also be beneficial as it can make you perform better (say you’re doing a group talk or presentation) as it alerts you to the feeling of being afraid, but then the feeling of anxiety will lower. Anxiety becomes a problem when you become fearful over anything without a reason to feel so, or when your anxiety is blown out of proportion. It can make you unable to enjoy activities that once made you happy because you’re constantly thinking about how it can go wrong.
